Tollygunge rout ITI

February 16, 2003 18:56 IST

Tollygunge Agragami, Kolkata, trounced ITI, Bangalore, 4-0 in a seventh National Football League match in Bangalore on Sunday.

Tollygunge hardly encountered any resistance from their opponents and led 1-0 at half-time.

Striker Ashim Biswas scored a brace (35th and 86th minutes) and forwards Akeem Abolonie (90th minute) and Moses N Oira (injury time) netted a goal each to complete the rout.

A goal by ITI striker Dhanesh in the 55th minute was disallowed by referee Benjamin D'Silva. ITI protested but the referee stuck to his decision.

With this victory, Tollygunge took its points tally to 20 while ITI, yet to taste victory this season, remained on four points.

ITI made about half dozen attempts but poor finishing proved their undoing.
