Indians lose at All England Championships

The Indian challenge at the All England Badminton Championships ended on the very first day in London on Tuesday with all the four contestants crashing out in the opening round itself.

Abhinn Shyam Gupta, Chetan Anand and Nikhil Kanetkar in the men's section and Aparna Popat in the women's section lost their first round matches against more fancied opponents.

Results:

Men's singles: Abinn Shyam Gupta lost to Shon Seung-Mo [Korea] 15-5, 15-5; Chetan Anand lost to Wu Yunyong 15-9, 15-6; Nikhil Kanetkar lost to Hidetaka Yamada 15-8, 7-15, 15-6.

Women's Singles: Aparna Popat lost to Judith Meulendiiks 11-4, 8-11, 13-10.
