Namdhari hold IHF

December 30, 2003 18:54 IST

Namdhari XI rallied superbly to hold IHF 3-3 in the opening match of the Dhyan Chand Cup hockey tournament at New Delhi on Tuesday.

Namdhari XI scored three goals in the last 14 minutes of play to split the points after IHF looked all set to take the match by taking a 3-0 lead at the Shivaji Stadium.

IHF, who were leading 1-0 at the break, through a Jatinder Singh goal, made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second half when Prem K sounded the board.

Jarnail Singh scored a field goal in the 56th minute to make it 3-0.

But Namdhari bounced back a minute later when Gursatinder Singh slammed home from a penalty corner. Ajmer Singh's penalty stroke conversion and Anmolak Singh's brilliant field goal levelled the score.
