Vinod, Ranjeet to clash in final

Sixth seed V M Ranjeet of Tamil Nadu pulled up a major surprise trouncing second seed Kamal Kannan of Tamil Nadu in the semifinals of the All India Ranking Tennis tournament at Hyderabad on Saturday.

Ranjeet deafeated Kannan 6-4, 6-3 to set up a title clash with top seed Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu who tamed Amod Wakalkar of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-3 in the men's section.

In the women's section, top seed Lata Assudani of Maharashtra defeated A Rajur of Karnataka and will clash in finals with Geeta Manohar of Andhra Pradesh who trounced statemate Afreen Jahan.

Results (Semifinals):

Men's singles: Vinod Sridhar (TN) beat Amod Wakalkar (Mah) 6-2, 6-3; V M Ranjeet (TN) beat Kamala Kannan (TN) 6-4, 6-3.

Women's singles: Lata Assudani (Mah) beat A Rajur 6-1, 6-1; Geeta Manohar (AP) beat Afreen Jahan (AP) 6-2, 6-3.

Women's doubles: Lata Assudani-Afreen Jahan beat Chirashanthi-Anupama 6-4, 6-3; Geeta Manohar-Sandra Sasidharan beat Anushree-Fara Mahnood 6-1, 6-0.
