Anand to bring out chess books

December 16, 2003 21:35 IST

Penguin Books India will publish two books on chess, written by World Rapid Chess champion Vishwanathan Anand.

The books, tentatively titled 'An Autobiography' and 'How to play Chess', are scheduled for publication in 2005.

The publishers contract two authors to assist Anand in bringing out the books amidst his busy schedule.

Anand said his autobiography will contain all his achievements from childhood. It will contain the success story of a champion, his progress from International Master to Grandmaster and then world number one, he added.

The book will also discuss his experiences while living and playing abroad.

Anand dismissed the idea that writing an autobiography is the end of one's career. Instead, he said an autobiography by him at the age of 34 is only a revolving story and the book is the beginning part of it.

"It is my love for the game which has inspired me to go for the books," he said.

On his second book, Anand said it would be an instruction manual for chess enthusiasts everywhere. It would benefit up and coming players and help them imbibe sound knowledge of the game, he said.
