Ronaldo signs deal with Brazilian TV station

Brazilian striker Ronaldo, still to make his Real Madrid debut almost a month after leaving Inter Milan, said on Thursday he had signed a marketing deal with Bandeirantes TV station and the sports marketing company Traffic.

The Brazilian TV station will show every weekend Real Madrid match in the Spanish championship and Ronaldo will take part in a programme about the competition on Mondays. It was not revealed how much the player would receive from the deal.

"I'm happy with this chance to show my football to the Brazilians," the World Cup-winning striker told a media conference by video from Madrid. "Spanish football is happier, more enjoyable, than Italian."

Ronaldo, who has suffered another series of nagging injuries in training since the move, said he did not know when he would make his long-awaited debut.

"I expect to train with the group in the coming days and my debut should be shortly. I will only play when I'm well," he said.

"I've settled in well. The players have accepted me well."

Earlier on Thursday, Ronaldo broke his silence on why he wanted to leave Inter, blaming the club's Argentine coach Hector Cuper.

"With Cuper, I risked my career," Ronaldo said in an interview in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He didn't play me when I was fit, and he made me train or kept me on the pitch when I wasn't.

"At times he didn't even follow the advice of the doctors."

Ronaldo's only appearance since the 2-0 World Cup final victory over Germany in June was for 33 minutes in Brazil's 1-0 friendly international defeat by Paraguay in August, when he looked lethargic and short of pace.
