Vijay Singh aims for
career Grand Slam

Top Fiji golfer Vijay Singh, fresh from his PGA Tour Championship victory, said his next aim is achieving a career Grand Slam.

Singh is in India to play in a skins event on Sunday against former India cricket captain Kapil Dev and Indian golf professionals Jyoti Randhawa and Harmeet Kahlon.

"My immediate goal is to win the two other majors that I haven't won," Singh told a packed news conference on Saturday.

"I want to complete a career Grand Slam and really challenge for world's number one position."

The 39-year-old won the 1998 PGA Championship and got his green jacket by winning the Augusta Masters two years ago. But he is yet to taste victory at the U.S. and Britsh Opens.

Singh, who started the year eighth in the world, is currently seventh in the rankings, led by American Tiger Woods.

"Tiger is a fabulous player," Singh said.

"He's taken the game to a different level entirely. But if there was only Tiger to beat, the game would have been far simpler. The problem is every time you go out to play, you have to beat 144 others."

Singh, who also won the Houston Open in March, said he was thrilled at finishing the year on a high note with his three-shot win over Charles Howell III in Georgia.

"Finishing the season on such a good note gives me a high. I am playing at my peak right now and I'm looking forward to winning more tournaments," he added.
