Merikom wins gold at World women's boxing

The Indian women's boxing team, which participated in the second women's World boxing championship in Antalya, Turkey, returned with four medals including a gold.

The medal winners included M C Merikom of Manipur (gold medal, in 45 kg category), Meena Kumar of Haryana (bronze, in 48 kg category), Karamjit Kaur of Punjab (bronze, in 75 kg category) and Jyotsana of Haryana, (bronze, in 81 kg category).

Indian Amateur Boxing Federation president Abhey Singh Chautala congratulated the team on its excellent performance in the tournament.
