ITI defeat Vasco to move to top position

Indian Telephone Industries shot to the top of the table, as a brilliant brace by Nigerian George Ekeh helped the Bangalore league runners-up to an impressive 3-1 victory over Vasco in a 10th round match in the National Football League on Sunday.

In fact, it was Vasco who went into the lead in the 28th minute as their Brazilian star Rui Wanderlei headed home off a Peter Rodrigues pass.

Stung by the reverse, ITI fought back to level the score in the 44th minute, with Mike Okoro finding the target, after capitalising on a pass from Raghuveer Singh. The teams went into the break one-all.

The second half totally belonged to Ekeh, who scored two superb goals -- the first in the 64th minute and the second just two minutes before the final whistle.

With this win, ITI have 19 points from five wins, four draws and one loss, while Vasco have 15 points from four wins, three draws and three losses from the ten outings.
