Saraswati Saha betters
200 metres mark

Saraswati Saha set a new national record in the women's 200 metres at the fifth National athletics circuit meet in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

The West Bengal athlete clocked 22.82 seconds to better Rachita Mistry's mark of 23.10 seconds, set in Chennai in 2000.

Though it was a national meet, the organisers did not made any arrangements to provide the list of participants or results to the media. In fact, chaos prevailed as no organiser was traceable. It was only because of some officials that one was able to obtain the results of the events that were gone through.

The results:
100 meters: Anil Kumar (Services) 10.51 secs, Sanjay Ghosh (Services) 10.56 secs, Anand Menezes (Railways) 10.61 secs.
Shot Put: Shakti Singh (Railways) 19.99 metres, Bahadur Singh (Police) 19.93 metres, Navpreet Singh (Punjab) 18.54 metres.

100 meters: V Jailakshmi (TN) 11.73 secs, Anuradha Biswal (Orissa) 11.86 secs, Poonam Tomer (Delhi) 11.90 secs.
200 metres: Saraswati Saha (West Bengal) 22.82 secs, Vinita Tripathi (LIC) 23.51 secs, Shobha (Andhra Pradesh) 24.68 secs.
100 meters hurdles: Anuradha Biswal (Orissa) 13.66 secs, Soma Biswas (West Bengal) 13.78 secs, Poonam Bojann (Karnataka) 14.14 secs.
Discuss throw: Neelam J Singh (Jharkhand) 59.84 metres, Harwant Kaur (Jharkhand) 57.60 metres, Seema Antil 57.40 metres.
