Three Indian boxers in semi-final

Three Indian pugilists Jitender Kumar, Mohammad Ali Qamar and Som Bahadur Pun moved into the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday.

Mohammad Ali Qamar outpunched Sebusiso Keketsi of Lesotho in the Light Flyweight (Up to 48kgs) category forcing the referee to stop the contest in the quarter-finals.

He next faces Phumzile Mathyila of South Africa.

Jitender Kumar edged out Murtala Abdulsalam of Nigeria on points (16-14) in the Middleweight (Up to 75kgs) category in the quarter-final bout.

He next faces Steven Birch of England.

Third Indian boxer to enter semis was Som Bahadur Pun. He also edged out Leslie Sekotswe of Botswana on points (35-29) in the Featherweight (Up to 57kgs) category.

He will meet Veikko Josua of Namibia in the semi-final.

Jitender Kumar felt that, he was more experienced now then the last Games. "I have been to the Olympics and I have learned a lot." “The crowd will not bother me. They will help the English boxer but that’s okay, I’m still confident.” said the Indian.
