Rajiv Khel Ratna for Gopichand

All England champion Pulella Gopichand has been selected for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna while legendary athlete Milkha Singh is among 31 sportspersons who will receive the Arjuna award.

Five coaches have been named for the Dronacharya award.

Out of 31 Arjuna awardees, 15 have been honoured for life-time achievements.

Prominent among current players who figure in the Arjuna award list include cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, hockey star Baljit Singh Saini, shooters Anjali Vedpathak and Abhinav Bindra, athlete K M Beenamol and weightlifter Sanamacha Chanu.

Among those who have been honoured for life-time achievements include former hockey Olympian R S Bhola, national hockey coach Balkishen Singh, tennis coach Akhtar Ali, athlete Vijayamala Bhanot and the late K D Jadav, the wrestler who gave India its first individual Olympic medal.

Gurdial Singh Bhangu (hockey) and S M Arif (badminton) are among the five coaches selected for the Dronacharya award.

Dronacharya award: Gurdial Singh Bhangu (hockey), Hansa Sharma (weightlifting), Phadke Gopal Purushottam (kho-kho), S M Arif (badminton), Bhupender Dhawan (powerlifting).
Arjuna award: K M Beenamol (athletics), Venkatesh Prasad (cricket), Baljit Singh Saini, Tingonleima Chanu (hockey), Anjali Vedpathak, Abhinav Bindra (shooting), Sebastian Xavier, J Abhijith (swimming), Randhir Singh, Kripa Shankar Patel (wrestling), George Thomas (badminton), C Honnapa (kabaddi), S Vijayalakshmi (chess), Sanamacha Chanu (weightlifting).
Handicapped: Yadvendra Vashishtha (athletics), Vijay Bhalachandra Munishwar (athletics and powerlifting).
Lifetime: Kalpana Debnath (gymnastics), Capt R S Bhola, Balkishen Singh, Jalaluddin Rizvi, Madhu Yadav (hockey), Gurbir Singh Sandhu (shooting), K D Jadhav, Naresh Kumar (wrestling), Milkha Singh, Rachna Govil, Vijayamala Bhanot (athletics), Akhtar Ali (tennis), P V Ramana (volleyball) and Surender Singh Kanwasi (rowing).
Handicapped: Joginder Singh Bedi (athletics).
