Kong completes Chinese TT sweep

China's table tennis champion Kong Linghui won his second gold medal at the Sydney Olympics on Monday, beating former Olympic gold medallist Jan-Ove Waldner of Sweden 3-2 (21-16, 21-19, 17-21, 14-21, 21-13) in the men's singles.

Top seed Kong and his partner Liu Guoliang last week won the men's doubles to defend their gold from Atlanta in 1996.

Kong's singles win delivered China with a clean sweep of the table tennis gold medals in Sydney, with his teammates also having won the women's singles and doubles titles.

Earlier, Liu picked up the singles bronze medal after beating Waldner's compatriot Joergen Persson 21-18, 19-21, 21-14, 21-13.
