Paramjit Singh out of 400m

The Rediff Team

India's Paramjit Singh became the first casualty at the Homebush Bay Athletics Stadium, on day one of the athletics competition, when he failed to qualify for the men's 400m.

Running in round six, Paramjit came in 6 out of 7 competitors, running 46.64 seconds as against Alvin Harrison of the US who, running well within himself, topped the heat with 44.96.

Ironically, Paramjit failed to even match his personal best of 45.56, set earlier this year.
