Kapil will continue as coach

Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jaywant Lele on Thursday confirmed that Kapil Dev will continue as coach of the Indian team for the coming Asia Cup cricket tournament in Dhaka later this month.

''National coach Kapil Dev has confirmed that he will continue as national cricket coach for the forthcoming Asia Cup tournament in Dhaka,'' he said.

Talking to media persons after the 27th All India Electricity Sports Board carrom tournament in Baroda, Lele said he will be leaving for Pune on May 15 to attend the conditioning camp, where he will meet Kapil.

''Then only we will be able to know about Kapil Dev's future planning,'' he said.

Asked about Kapil's plans to resign as coach following the match-fixing allegation by the former BCCI president I S Bindra, Lele reiterated: "Kapil is very much there; and the rest I do not know and do not wish to comment on it.''
