Hong Kong net start-up bags Indian cricket media rightsHong Kong Internet start-up Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd (PCCW) has bought key media rights, including jointly running a web site, to international cricket matches played in India through 2004. PCCW, in a statement on Wednesday, said it will build and operate the official Indian cricket web site, which will carry statistics and information, as well as full audio and video streaming of all live match action, in association with Doordarshan, the government-owned national television network. No financial details were made available. The agreement covers at least 100 days of cricket to be played in India, involving eight tours starting off with Sri Lanka's tour of India in the second half of 2000. PCCW has also acquired broadcast rights on satellite and cable throughout Asia for a two-hour programme of highlights of each of the matches every day. Agencies
