Mankad, Udomchoke in ITF finalSecond seed Harsh Mankad bided his time for the right opening before outclassing giant-killer Rishi Sridhar to set up summit clash against Thailand's Danei Udomchoke in the ITF men's Satellite tennis tournament in Delhi today. Mankad's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sridhar, who beat two seeds on the way to semi-finals, should impress the national selection committee which meets in Delhi on June 29 to name Indian team for the July 21-23 Davis Cup World Group qualifying rubber against Sweden in Bastad. In the other semi-final, top seed and Bangalore second-leg winner Danei Udomchoke rallied from a set down to beat US-based Indian Kunj Majmudar 6-7(4/7), 6-1, 6-0 in just over an hour-and-a-half to storm into the final. Saturday's final will be the rematch of last week's clash in Bangalore, where Udomchoke came from a set down to beat the Indian. It will give Mankad a chance to avenge his defeat and collect valuable points on the tour ahead of next week's Masters tournament.
