Paes-Raymond in round 3The second seeded pair of Leander Paes and Lisa Raymond entered in the third round of the mixed doubles at the French Open 2000. In the second round they defeated Nana Miyagi and Michael Hill 6-2, 6-3. It was a easy match for the seasonsed pair who didn't had any diffculty in beating the unseeded pair. Their third round opponents will be the 12th seeded South African pair of Mariaan De Swardt and David Adams. Swardt and Adams defeated Martina Navratilova and Jan Siemerink, 6-3, 6-3 in a second round match. The lone India challenge left in the men's doubles - Mahesh Bhupathi, also crashed out of the event. Bhupathi, playing with David Prinosil, went down 4-6, 7-6(4), 1-6 to the Spainsh pair of Juan Ignacio Carrasco and Jairo Velasco Jr in the second round. The first set started with an early drop of serve in the third game by Mahesh/Prinosil, and the Spanish pair took grip of the set from there on, as Mahesh/Prinosil seemed to be unable to trouble them much on their service games. In the second set, Mahesh/Prinosil were taken to deuce in the third game, while the Spanish pair faced deuce in the 6th game, but both went to hold on the games. In the 10th game, Mahesh/Prinosil took the Spanish pair to break point/set point at AD out, but could not convert that one chance, and the set went into tiebreaker. In the tiebreraker, Mahesh/Prinosil finally seemed to come alive, as they went up two minibreaks with the Spanish pair dropping both their first two serves. After Mahesh/Prinosil served two, it was 5-0. The Spainards got one minibreak back and came closer at 6-4 but then dropped serve to lose the set. The third set started badly for Mahesh/Prinosil as they dropped serve after a couple of deuces in the second game to fall behind 0-2. The Spaniards were in full flow now and then Mahesh/Prinosil dropped serve again in the sixth game to fall behind 1-5. It was soon all over without a whimper, at 4-6, 7-6(4), 1-6. The match took an hour and 45 minutes to complete.
