Vladimirov assured of Wipro GMs titleGrandmaster Evegeny Vladimirov of Kazakhistan assured himself of the Wirpo International Grandmasters' chess title after defeating Asian under-14 champion Pendyala Hari Krishna in the 11th round in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Vladimirov, the highest rated player in the tournament, established an unassailable lead of eight points with two more rounds to go. For his efforts he will receive $2,500. The Kazakh Grandmaster, who had coached former World champion Gary Kasparov, outplayed P Hari Krishna in a marathon 76-move game. In the process, he dashed his opponent's hopes of a GM norm. Hari Krishna has just five points to his credit. Displaying a rich visual of knight power, he manouevered the pieces with unpredictable and swift strides to inflict a resounding defeat on Harikrishna in a Reti opening game with a bookish rook and three pawn ending.
