Statistical Highlights 13th match (1st final): Pakistan v Australia at Melbourne, 2-2-2000

This match was the 1554th in Limited over international (LOI) history.

This match was Pakistan's and Australia's 452nd LOI. Both the teams have now appeared in maximum LOI matches than any other country.

This match was the 56th meeting between the two sides.

Ricky Ponting was appearing in his 100th LOI match. He becomes the 13th Australian and the 101st player in LOI history to do so.

The catch of Shahid Afridi was Adam Gilchrist's 125th dismissal of his career. He now goes past the tally of 124 dismissals of former Australian Rodney Marsh. Gilchrist now occupies the number two position among Australian keepers with maximum dismissals. Only Ian Healy with a record 233 dismissals has more.

Ijaz Ahmed recorded his fifth duck against Australia in LOIs. It equals the maximum ducks scored against Australia by South African Allan Donald.

The catch of Abdur Razzaq was Steve Waugh's 100th of his career in his 285 matches. He now becomes the second Australian after Allan Border (127 catches, 273 matches) and the fifth fielder in LOIs to take 100 or more catches. The others being: India's M Azharuddin (153 in 323), Sri Lankan Roshan Mahanama (109 in 213) and West Indian Viv Richards (102 in 107).

He also becomes the only second all-rounder to do the unique triple of 1000 runs + 100 wickets + 100 catches in LOIs. West Indian Viv Richards in 187 matches had scored 6781 runs (avg 47.00), taken 118 wickets (avg 35.88) and has held 102 catches, while Steve Waugh in 285 matches has so far scored 6478 runs (avg 31.45), taken 191 wickets (avg 34.71) and has held 100 catches.

The two catches by Steve Waugh has also taken his tally of catches to 19 in 39 matches - now the maximum by an Australian fielder against Pakistan. He surpassed the previous tally of 18 catches in 34 matches by Allan Border.

Moin Khan's 47 was the second highest score by a Pakistani keeper against Australia after the 59 by Salim Yousuf at Sydney on 25-2-1990.

It was the fourth occasion a Pakistani innings has three ducks in the same innings against Australia. Interestingly all the four instances came in Australia.

Pakistan's 154 was its lowest total at this venue in 21 matches. The previous lowest total was the 161 on 3-1-1990.

The unbeaten 19 by Steve Waugh was his 50th "unbeaten" innings of his career. Now only India's Azharuddin has more such innings - 53 in 323 matches.

It was Glenn McGrath's fifth man of the match award of his career in his 109th match.
