Jadeja doubtful for Australia tour

Ajay Jadeja, down with a shoulder injury, is a doubtful starter for the Indian team's upcoming tour of Australia, beginning later this month, and is flying to Mumbai tonight for a medical check-up.

The allrounder, who missed the last match of the one-day series against New Zealand because of the injury, is likely to fly to South Africa for treatment, if advised.

''Jadeja is going to Mumbai tonight for a check-up by Dr Anant Joshi and if need be he will fly to South Africa for the best treatment possible for his injury,'' Indian coach Kapil Dev told reporters at the end of the match at the Ferozeshah Kotla.

''If Jadeja is declared fit, he will join the Australia-bound team and I will let you know on November 21 in Mumbai on the eve of the departure,'' he said.

Kapil added that Jadeja's fate will be known within a week or so.

Following Jadeja's injury, rumours are rife about the possible inclusion of seasoned stumper Nayan Mongia.

''I wanted to share the information about Jadeja with you to avoid speculative reports appearing in the media,'' Kapil told newspersons.
