Dr Stephen Strange, a Greenwich Village based sorcerer and master of the mystic arts, often helps out Spidey with a spell or much-needed perspective. Visually one of the trippiest superheroes, there is little Strange cannot do, and has come in for flak from modern writers who consider him a deus ex machina.
