Enjoy a walk through Central London, display your creative work and learn the new language of pain

Walk down central London to discover history and art through the lettering on buildings and signs. From the stately lettered façade of St Martin's-in-the-Fields' to the trendy new typeface on King's Cross Station, urban sites are critiqued and occasionally praised by experts of art and design.

Get a taste of the last century at the Covent Garden underground station, which features three distinct styles dating back to 1906, then go further back to the Victorian age at the largest umbrella shop in Europe. Even traffic signs get a fresh look. If you can't make it to the British Library, you can at least admire its elegantly lettered gates online.

The 800X600 Project

This unique project offers photographers a perfect forum to display their creative works of art. Each collage featured here focuses on one subject and consists of 64 images that measure 100 x 75 pixels high. This growing collection covers all kinds of subjects. Look around and experience downtown Minneapolis at night, wonder at the beauty of tulips, or dive into a landfill. A 'Wild Night' might not be what you're expecting, but do visit the site before 'today turns into yesterday'.

The Unh! Project

Comic-book writers have developed a new language of pain - be it the impact of a simple punch or the agony of being thrown out of a window. This fun site compiles exclamatory examples that illustrate feelings from "Aaaaaaaaaa!" to "Yyaaaargggg!". You'll also find familiar expressions of hurt like "Ow!", "Ugh!", and "Oof!". With humorous commentary from the site's author, this ode to 'ouch' is a lot more fun than being squeezed by a giant python!

Time Tales

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does an abandoned photo say? The folks responsible for this site don't know the answer, but they have given these recovered photos a home. Their collection includes vintage and current pictures from flea markets, thrift shops, streets and alleyways. Bereft of their original context, these snapshots raise a number of provocative questions.

Are the people portrayed here still married? What was the occasion for this glamorous portrait?  What happened to Claire, Mama and June? Browse through photos from pre-1930, 1930-1950, 1950-1970, and 1990 to the present, or submit your own. Enjoy the mystery.
