Satish, you wouldn't be alone in wondering how to make the most of your computer. I am sure that, like me, you have often been frustrated by its speed, and have wondered how it could be made to work faster and more efficiently.
I have developed all my hardware expertise out of necessity, thanks to the fact that my service guy comes two weeks after I put in a complaint. Can you imagine living without a machine and just Bubbles for company? I wouldn't wish it even on my worst enemy!
I decided to pick up all the basic skills about computers and, thanks to all the information available online, my PC now zips like my VW Beetle, Anna, on a good day...
WEB RESOURCES:
Bubbles thought PC was an abbreviation for 'pest control' until I introduced him to this PC Enthusiast's Resource. It has a Buyer's Guide and a 'How to and Tweaks' section.
Once you have bought a computer, it's a good idea to familiarise yourself with the different parts and accessories, and also learn how to configure your PC.
I once had a query from a person who couldn't figure out why his computer refused to work. Investigation revealed that he had not plugged in his monitor. A computer does not stand alone. The accessories, desktop, monitor, printer, scanner, storage etc all need to be plugged in properly before you're ready to go.
Here are 5 easy steps that will help you get more out of your computer. Bubbles got valuable 'Upgrading and Performance Tips' from this site.
Basic Hardware has a 'How to' section and 'HowTo Install a new Hard Drive', 'Speed up Windows', 'Repairing Common Problems' are some of the features that I have found very useful. There is also a section on 'Tweaking' - using any means available to make your computer work faster. I'm sure you'd love that too!
If your computer is giving you too much grief, sites like Protonic and PC Mech ought to help.
This will help you out with the hardware. Software affects tour computer's performance too, but that is a topic by itself, to be dealt with at a later time. Meanwhile, I have to go and find another keyboard; Bubbles has already worn this one out with the incessant tapping of his sharp beak...
