Sporting Clube de Goa played a good second half to beat Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 in a National Football League match at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Dudu Omagbemi scored a brace while Joseph Pereira netted the other goal for the winners, who now have 17 points from 14 matches.

Mohammedan Sporting, who remain on 11 points from 14 outings, got a consolation goal through veteran Raman Vijayan.

After a goalless first half, Sporting Clube shot into the lead in the 49th minute as Nicholas Rodrigues essayed a fine centre from the right and Dudu was virtually unchallenged when he put the ball home with a left-footer.

The Goans scored again in the 70th minute. Dudu, who had the Sporting defence in all sorts of trouble, launched into a solo and entered the rival box, prompting Mohammedan Sporting's Madhab Das to bring him down in desperation. He made no mistake in converting the resultant penalty.

Five minutes later, the scoreline became 3-0 when Nicolas Rodrigues sent a long ball deep into the Sporting defence. The Kolkata side's defenders went up trying to lay the off-side trap and Joseph, finding lots of vacant spaces, dodged past an advancing custodian Gopal Das and put the ball into the goal.

With their fate sealed, Mohammeddan Sporting succeeded in reducing the margin in the 75th minute through Vijayan.

Dudu was adjudged man of the match.
