Ahmedabad court remands Nagori to police custody

A Metropolitan court, on Tuesday sent five SIMI [Images] activists including its leader Safdar Nagori, arrested in connection with Ahmedabad [Images] serial blasts, to 24-hour police custody.

Nagori, Abdul Sibley, Hafeez Hussain, Kamruddin Nagori and Amil Pervez were produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate S M Singhal after their 14-day police remand ended on Tuesday.

The Crime Branch, investigating the serial blasts cases, said before the court that the five accused, brought in from Madhya Pradesh [Images] for questioning are involved in the blast that took place in the Kahdia area of the city.

The court granted 24-hour police custody of the accused after the investigating officer in the Khaida case assistant commissioner of police Usha Rada said that the blast in the area had claimed five lives and injured 45 other, for which further probe was required.

In all, 18 cases have been registered in different police stations of the city with regards to the serial blasts.
