Iran Air flight makes emergency landing in Mumbai

Iran Air's Mumbai-Teheran flight made an emergency landing at the city's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport late Tuesday night after one of its engine caught fire. All the passengers are safe.

There were 294 passengers on-board when the aircraft made the emergency landing, a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) official said, adding that, all passengers were safe.

"Full emergency was declared on Iran Air flight, IR-811, after one of its engine caught fire. The incident happened when the aircraft had flown some 90 nautical miles from Mumbai," the official said.

The Boeing 747-200 aircraft made the emergency landing at 2239 hours, the official said.

Meanwhile, it is understood that an Air India IC 973 Kochi-Muscat flight made a precautionary landing at the Mumbai airport due to an hydraulic engine failure, the official said.
