A murder case was filed against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray [Images] in a Bihar court on Friday, official sources said in Patna.

Jagdish Prasad, father of Pawan Kumar, who was allegedly killed by MNS activists in Mumbai, filed a murder case against Raj Thackeray in the court of the chief judicial magistrate, Biharsharief, Nalanda.

A court official told rediff.com that Jagdish Prasad has filed a case against Raj Thackeray under 302 of IPC.

The complainant accused Raj Thackeray and his MNS activists of killing of his only son -- Pawan in Mumbai on Sunday.

Pawan, a resident of Bara-Khurd village in Nalanda, was one of the hundreds of students from Bihar assaulted while appearing for a railway recruitment exam in Mumbai.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced compensation of Rs 1,50,000 to Pawan's family.
