White House Press Secretary Dana Perino [Images] said the President remains hopeful that McCain will pull it out on Tuesday night and win the elections.

Bush thinks that Republican candidates all across America have the right ideas when it comes to economy and national security, Perino said when asked why Bush has not campaigned for the Republican nominee.

"But he also is realistic about the political environment that we are in," she said, apparently referring to opinion polls suggesting a clean victory for Democratic candidate Obama.

President Bush has followed this campaign with a huge amount of interest and has followed the issues candidates and tactics, but he realizes that this election is not about him.

"This is the first time in 14 years that President Bush hasn't been on the ballot. And that's a different role for him -- in the past," she said.

She said the President had used his radio address last week to ask people to cast their ballots in the elections.
