Sixteen persons were killed and six others injured when a bus fell into a 150-metre deep gorge in Rampur sub-division of Shimla district on Sunday.

The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation bus on way to Rampur from Bachri village fell into gorge near Kaichi More, about 18 km from Rampur, Superintendent of Police R M Sharma told PTI.

The conductor was among the dead while the driver was injured.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Rampur police station Puran Chand told PTI over phone from the accident site that it appears the driver lost control over the vehicle while taking a turn at Kaichi More and the bus fell into the gorge.

The injured have been admitted to Rampur government hospital.

The SHO said all the bodies have been recovered. The dead included 11 men and five women.
