All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo J Jayalalithaa on Monday offered a sumptuous spread of 45 mouth-watering delicacies in a 'Pongal' feast to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi [Images].

"It is a friendly meeting with extraordinary lunch," Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson and in charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu, Ravishankar Prasad, told waiting media persons after a two-hour-long luncheon meeting hosted by Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence.

"We had a very good and friendly lunch. There were 45 items. Jayalalithaa was a very generous host," he said, adding, "We discussed a whole range of contemporary issues during the meeting."

He said Jayalalithaa congratulated Modi on his thumping victory in the recent assembly polls in Gujarat.

Prasad refused to comment when asked if Monday's meeting took the saffron party a step closer to the Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK for an electoral alliance.

Modi too chose not to interact with the media despite widespread speculation of an 'electoral marriage' between the two parties in the wake of Jayalalithaa's invitation to Modi and Prasad for the lunch.

Earlier, Jayalalithaa received him by presenting him a shawl at her residence and Modi reciprocated with a bouquet. After presenting 'prasadams' brought from Sree Krishna temple in Guruvayur to Jayalalithaa, Modi turned towards media persons and wished them a happy Pongal.

Unprecedented security arrangements were in place in Chennai in view of Modi's visit and all roads leading to Poes Garden were virtually sealed, with policemen taking position at vantage points.
