Against the backdrop of Congress chief  Sonia Gandhi's [Images] sharp attack on Left parties on Sunday, the Communist Party of India Marxist Politburo has decided to meet in New Delhi soon to take an 'appropriate decision' if the talks between the Left Front and the United Progressive Alliance fail to end the logjam over the India-United States nuclear agreement.

The party central committee, in its meeting in Kolkata last week, had authorised the politburo to take a final decision if the UPA government went ahead with the operationalisation of the nuclear deal.

With the divergence between the two sides on the deal remaining as wide as ever, the full politburo meeting is expected soon after the outcome of the UPA-Left committee meeting on the deal on October 9, CPI-M sources said in New Delhi on Sunday.

The Left Front on Sunday took strong exception to Gandhi's indirect but strong attack on them when she said that elements opposing the Indo-US civil nuclear deal were enemies of the country's development.
