The Left parties' meeting with external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee on the nuclear deal ended on inconclusive note on Friday.

"The third meeting of the United Progressive Alliance-Left committee on India-US Civil Nuclear Cooperation was held today. All members took part in the meeting. The meeting carried forward the earlier discussion on the basis of inputs provided by both sides.

The discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere and will continue at the next meeting of the committee, scheduled to be held at 11 a.m on October 9," a press handed out released by external ministry said.

The Left parties were not very happy with the outcome of the discussions and insisted that the government not hold discussions with the International Atomic Energy Agency till the committee submits its report and the matter should be debated in the Parliament.

"Nothing much happened at the meeting except that we gave our papers. There has been no progress," said DebBrata Biswas of Forward Block.
