An Indian man, who was sentenced to death by the United Arab Emirates Supreme Court for murdering a girl, has been pardoned by the victim's parents.

An appeal court in Sharjah had sentenced an Indian man, identified as A V, to death for stabbing a girl identified as K Gh, after raping her.

A V was also sentenced to 40 lashes for drinking. The man's sentence has been reduced to three years since he has already spent seven years in jail.

The killer A V will be deported after being given 40 more lashes for committing adultery.

A V on December 31, 1999, went to K Gh's home after having a couple of drinks.

After raping her, he stabbed her several times. The man was charged with premeditated murder and sentenced to death.

According to UAE rules, a convict can escape the death sentence if he is pardoned by the victim's family.
