Kerala Communist Party of India-Marxist secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday visited People's Democratic Party chairman Abdul Nasser Mahdhani in the Central jail in Coimbatore.

Mahdhani briefed about his health condition and matters related to the cases against him, Poonthura Siraj, working chairman of PDP, who was with Vijayan, told reporters.

Mahdhani, an accused in the 1998 Coimbatore serial bomb blasts case, has been in jail for the last eight years.

CPI-M Rajya Sabha MP A Vijayaraghavan was also present during the one-hour meeting, Siraj said.

Siraj thanked Vijayan and CPI-M for the visit.
