A two-day joint exercise between the armed forces of India and Singapore, code named 'Exercise Bold Kurukshetra' is underway in Babina in Uttar Pradesh.

The formation level exercise on mechanised warfare involves personnel and equipment of both countries and is being witnessed by senior defence officers from both countries, an official release said on Friday.

The aim of the exercise, which is being conducted at the culmination of two months of joint training between the Singapore Armed Forces and the Indian Army, is to achieve inter-operability through mutual understanding and familiarisation with each others' equipment and operational procedures thereby enhancing co-operation.

The exercise involves multi-tiered planning and use of new generation equipment, like Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Thermal Imaging sights and joint execution of mission by two mechanised combat groups under a unified command structure, the release said.

The exercise, which will culminate on March 24, will provide an impetus to the defence cooperation between the two nations, it added.
