The Tamil Nadu police have registered a first information report against Kerala Communist Party of India-Marxist secretary Pinarayi Vijayan after he failed to produce the original license of a pistol.

Chennai airport authorities found bullets in Vijayan's suitcase and they were away from him when he was traveling to New Delhi on February 16.

Vijayan had submitted a photocopy of the license and agreed to take back the bullets, which he claimed to have kept in his suitcase by mistake.

Police sources said that normally in such instances, incidents were recorded in a community service register and would give the person some grace period to produce the original documents. The FIR had been filed under various sections of the Aircrafts Act and Indian Arms Act, police said.
