A polygraph test will be conducted on Santokben Jadeja, a mafia don, arrested for allegedly sheltering two accused of rape and murder of minor girls near a religious shrine, an investigating official said in Junagadh on Tuesday.

Santokben, arrested two days ago, will be taken to the Directorate of Forensic Sciences at Gandhinagar for the polygraph (lie-detector) test on Tuesday, the official said.

She was arrested for allegedly harbouring two of the accused persons who went to her house in Rajkot after the rape and murder incident.

Police said Santokben had hidden the accused persons as they were friends of one of her sons (Kandhal).

Junagadh police has also filed an application in a local court seeking to conduct the narco-analysis test (truth serum) on Santokben, who earned the name 'Godmother' for her gun weilding ways and running a mafia during the 1980's.

An order regarding the application would be taken only on Wednesday after Santokben is taken back to Porbandar after the lie-detector test, police said.

The Godmother's arrest in the case was a sudden turn of events even as police is yet to arrest the main culprits.

Santokben, though not actively involved in the mafia for some years now, was arrested recently after two of her sons were involved in a murder of a rival gangster in Porbandar.

Her family was in the news again after her daughter-in-law Rekha [Images] was murdered in her house, suspectedly by insiders in the family itself.
