Army troops on Tuesday foiled another infiltration bid into the Valley. Army claims the intruding group of four militants killed in a sustained gunfight were armed to their teeth.
With the death of these four militants, the number of militants killed so far in 2007 on the line of control has risen to 45 since the mountain passes opened up with the melting snows in April 2007.
"All the four intruders were killed from whose possession four AK 47 rifles, four pistols, one UBGL, 40 UBGL grenades, 77 hand grenades, 19 gelatin sticks, 6 IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) components, three wireless sets and one GPS (Global Positioning System) were recovered," Lieutenant Colonel A K Mathur, spokesman of the army's 15th corps said in Srinagar [Images].
The group of slain intruders had plans to create trouble in Kashmir around the country's Independence Day on August 15, as per the army's spokesman.
