Should Constitution be re-written?

"In the evolution of mankind, change is inevitable," said Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala while urging the central government to rewrite the Constitution afresh.

Addressing the new session of the Tamil Nadu assembly, Barnala said that the Contitution must be re-written with regard to the 'changing needs, while preserving the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.'

He pointed out that in several countries, Constitutions have been re-written many a times. In the last 50 years, our political, social and economic facets, and the needs of the working class have changed radically.
