New Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Satyabrata Pal on Tuesday presented his credentials to President Pervez Musharraf and interacted with him on the improving relations between the two countries.

"It was a warm and cordial meeting lasting about ten minutes during which the President conveyed his good wishes for my fruitful tenure in Islamabad," Pal said after his brief meeting with Musharraf.

Pal, who succeeded Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon, was among the seven new envoys of different countries who presented their credentials separately at a colourful ceremony at the Presidential office in Islamabad.

The meeting took place four days ahead of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Pakistan to extend an invitation to Musharraf to take part in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit to be held in April in New Delhi and to review the third round of the composite dialogue process with his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid M Kasuri.
