The recent anti-satellite missile test conducted by China on Wednesday came up for discussion at India-Russia-China foreign ministerial meeting here with all the three countries saying they wanted outer space to be free of weapons.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Russian and Chinese counterparts, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters that there was commonality of approach over the issue.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said his country was always committed to maintaining peace in the world and outer space.

Lavrov said Russia and China had joint initiative for disarmament.

Moscow, he said, was working on a draft treaty to prevent arms race in outer space and it will be unveiled soon.
