Do something creative, constructive and challenging, and stay young and healthy. This is the mantra to good health according to a recent research.

A new study from the Texas University at Austin says a planned schedule and challenging tasks keep people healthier. ''The most important finding is that creative activity helps people stay health,'' a sociology professor with the Population Research Center at the University and lead author John Mirowsky said.

''Creative activity is non-routine, enjoyable and provides opportunity for learning and for solving problems. People who do that kind of work, whether paid or not, feel healthier and have fewer physical problems,'' he added.

Besides, being employed also leads to better health, regardless of the amount of creativity involved in the work, the Science Daily reported.

''One thing that surprised us was that the daily activities of employed people are more creative that non-employed people of the same sex, age and level of education,'' the researcher noted.

Moreover, creativity helps you stay younger, Reiterating it, Mirowsky said the health advantage of being somewhat above average in creative work is equal to being 6.7 year ''younger''.

It is suggested whatever work people do, they should try to find ways to make it creative.
