The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday admitted that its 'India Shining' slogan used in the run up to 2004 Lok Sabha elections was a 'mistake.'

"India Shining slogan was a mistake. The better slogan would have been India Rising," Advani, who was Deputy Prime Minister during the National Democratic Alliance rule when the slogan was coined, told media persons in Shimla.

The BJP and the NDA government led by the party had undertaken an aggressive 'India Shining' campaign before the last Lok Sabha polls.
