Bharatiya Janata Party ally the Janata Dal-United on Tuesday said it has no objection to the saffron party projecting L K Advani as its prime ministerial candidate.

"We have no objection. It is not a problem for us," JD-U president Sharad Yadav said.

"The BJP is the largest ally in the National Democratic Alliance and it is for that party to take a decision. So, Advani's choice is but natural," he added.

Asked whether the image of the former deputy prime minister as a Hindutva hardliner was acceptable to JD-U, Yadav said, "It is not a factor."

When asked if the JD-U too would toe the Hindutva line, he said, "As long as the NDA is bound by the national agenda of governance, there is no problem."

"We have already worked together with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the prime minister and Advani as his deputy and earlier as the union home minister," he pointed out.

On whether the BJP held consultations with the JD-U before making the announcement, Yadav said, "Talks keep taking place."

The JD-U chief also declined to predict the outcome of Gujarat assembly elections, but maintained that the 2002 riots in the state were "shameful and condemnable".

On reports of alleged forced child labour in the Lok Sabha constituency of the Union rural development minister, the JD-U leader said Raghuvansh Prasad Singh should know "charity begins at home". There should not be a big gap between promise and deeds, he added.
