Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths may have to take a tip or two about Internet's potential and that too from a former Research and Analysis Wing official, an accused under the Official Secrets Act.

The sleuths realised this when the CBI summoned Major General (retd) V K Singh on Thursday for a fresh round of questioning for the second consecutive day during which the agency accused him of naming some of the officials posted in RAW, the country's external intelligence gathering body.

The CBI sleuths, in their attempt to grill Singh, said that by naming the officials in his book, he had allegedly violated Section five of the Official Secrets Act (wrongful communication of information), sources said.

However, the retired army officer, who served in RAW as its Joint Secretary till 2004, pointed out that the required information was available on the website of Department of Personnel where the department was mentioned as RAW.

This was followed a brief round of questioning about the details of the tenders of antennas needed for surveillance to which Gen Singh again pointed out that this information was also available on the World Wide Web.

Singh, in his book India's External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW had pointed out about the purchase of antennas at a rate much higher than the actual price.

The former RAW official also advised the CBI sleuths to have a look at the Wikipedia, an Internet encyclopedia, which gave every bit of information about the RAW, including its office, its successes and failures.

The information is so pinpointed that the location of its headquarters is given along with longitude and latitude, Singh told his investigators.
