Yesteryear's colourful politician Ramrao Adik dead

Former deputy chief minister of Maharasahtra Ramrao Wamanrao Adik passed away this morning at Leelavati hospital at suburban Bandra in northwest Mumbai.

The end came at around 0440 hrs.

Adik, who was also the former Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president, was suffering from pneumonia and blood pressure. He had been admitted to the Breach Candy hospital earlier and was later shifted to Leelavati hospital.

He was the member of the Legislative Council from 1978 till 1996 and was a minister for more than a decade in the ministries of late Vasantdada Patil, A R Antule, Babasaheb Bhosle, Sharad Pawar [Images] and Sudhakarrao Naik.

His younger brother Govindrao Adik is a Congress MLC while his son-in-law Jambuwantrao Dhote is a veteran leader from Vidarbha region.
