Accusing the United Progressive Alliance government of "communalising" the war on terror, the National Democratic Alliance on Wednesday asked it to shed vote-bank politics and demanded re-enactment of POTA-type law in the wake of latest terror incidents in the country.

Participating in an adjournment motion over government's failure to contain terrorism as evidenced by the Hyderabad blasts, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani said 10 major terror attacks took place across the country during the last two years, including the Mumbai serial train blasts which he equated with September 11, 2001 strikes in the United States.

Advani cautioned the government against following appeasement policy towards minorities, saying it would mean appeasement of terrorism.

To press his allegation, he cited the government's decision to head-count minorities in the Army and reservation in Andhra Pradesh and Aligarh Muslim University.

"Let us forget majority and minority while dealing with terrorism. A terrorist is a terrorist," the BJP leader told the government.

"Don't pursue votebank politics," he said.
