Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Tuesday called on President Pratibha Patil [Images] and the two leaders reviewed recent developments against the backdrop of the United Progressive Alliance government-Left stand-off over the nuclear deal  issue.

After the 40-minute meeting, a Rashtrapathi Bhavan spokesperson said they reviewed the recent developments, but did not elaborate.

As a step towards addressing the Left concerns over the Indo-US nuclear deal, an institutional mechanism at the political level had been proposed.

The serial blasts in Hyderabad, which claimed 40 lives, is also said to have discussed in the meeting.
