The Left is not right. That is what 60 per cent of people in the country say about the Left Parties' decision to block the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Only 37 per cent said what the Left did was right. These are the findings of an exclusive survey conducted in 120 constituencies among 12, 000 people by news channel NDTV.

Among those polled, 56 per cent were aware of the nuclear deal, while 44 per cent were not aware.

Out of those who are aware of the deal, 60 per cent of people wanted the deal to go ahead. At least 63 per cent said that they trusted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's [Images] efforts to get the deal signed.

If snaps polls were to be conducted, the survey found, the Congress would be the biggest beneficiary. The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Left would not gain, it said.

According to the poll, if an election were held at the moment, the Congress will gain additional 40 seats across the country and the Bahujan Samaj Party will get 23 more  seats. Accordingly, the BJP would lose 22 seats and the Left  25 seats, the survey found out.
